Description

The past sanitary crises testify to the growing global exchanges, the absence of human and animal pathogen borders, and the increasing interactions between man and animal, including food.

New sanitary, nutritional and economic objectives regarding food are increasingly present in today’s society. Some examples include the reduction of salt, sugar and fat levels, the increased food production safety and commercial trade security as well as man-animal interaction safety, greater proximity, and improvement, for food production systems.

The need for the creation of new professional profiles sharing the same scientific culture has clearly been identified: experts capable of understanding the economic and technical stakes involved in agro-food production and man-animal interactions, and who do so by working in transdisciplinary teams, on both national and international levels, so as to facilitate coherent and important decision-making within sectorial fields.

The MAN-IMAL programme offers new scientific training for scientists, doctors, veterinarians, pharmacists and engineers thus giving them added skills to their core training. This is achieved by reducing compartmentalization within the health care and food processing industries, enabling a new focus on the link between ‘animal-man-food’.
