Gates Cambridge Scholarships


Gates Cambridge Scholarships are prestigious, highly competitive full-cost scholarships. They are awarded to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge.The programme aims to build a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others.

The ScholarshipsThe Gates Cambridge Scholarships are one of the most prestigious international scholarships in the world.The programme was established in 2000 by a donation of US$210m from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge; this is the largest ever single donation to a UK university.While at Cambridge, Scholars pursue full range of subjects available at the University and are spread through its departments and Colleges.

Currently 1,239 Gates Cambridge Scholars and Alumni from 96 countries90 new Scholarships awarded each year: 40 in US round 50 in international round. About 225 Scholars from c. 50 countries studying in Cambridge. Almost 1,000 Alumni who are spread across the globe.

Applications for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship for October 2014 entry open on 1 September 2013. The deadlines are as follows:

Round 1 (US citizens based in the USA) - 15 October 2013

Round 2 (all other eligible candidates) - 3 December 2013
